Introducing Gorge Walking – a brand-new experience that takes you deep into the wild, untouched upper section of the river. Normally too dangerous to access when water is flowing, this unique area opens up when the dam remains closed, revealing a secret world of natural beauty, deep pools, syphons and even a stunning cave known as The Church.
This is a chance to explore a place few people have ever seen—raw, beautiful, and packed with surprises. Along the way, your guide will show you how to navigate the terrain safely and share insights about the local geology, flora, and fauna. It's a fun, physical, and completely original way to enjoy the river.
The only rule? Leave no trace.
We want to keep this hidden paradise as pristine as we found it.

Gorge Walking - Upper Dranse

Meeting at our rafting base, you'll be equipped with wetsuits, boots, life jackets, helmets and harnesses, then driven about 10minutes up to the departure point. From here, you'll get into the water to cool off right away, before negotiating rapids and pools and discovering hidden caves very few people know about. There are plenty of jumps of varying hights, so everyone can challenge themselves or just relax and float through the scenery.
Then we walk back up to the road - which you'll have forgotten has been there all along! - and get driven back to our base to change.
We allow 30mins for changing and transporting you to the departure point, and 30 mins for the return journey and getting changed afterwards. In total, from arrival until departure, you'll be with us for about 2h30mins, in the gorge for about 1h30 or so.
